RUTH MAE (JONES) SHEEHY
1925-2013

Ruth Mae Sheehy, 87, of Independence, MO passed away January 6, 2013. She was born June 29, 1925 in Sharon, PA. She graduated from Sharon High School and attended Graceland College in Lamoni, IA.

In July of 1946 she married David, the love of her life, and from this union was born two daughters, Christi and Nan. Dave and Ruth owned and operated Sheehy Realty and Investments in Independence for many years before their retirement. Afterward they wintered in Ft. Myers, FL for over 25 years and considered this their second home where they were active with church and community functions.

Ruth was involved with the Bingham Waggoner Historical Society as a tour guide and a former member of the board of directors. She was a member of the Independence Young Matrons for over 50 years. As a member of Blue Springs Assembly of God, she was a committed Christian who loved people and never missed an opportunity to spread the message of the Lord. During her lifetime she witnessed and helped lead many people to accept Jesus as their Savior.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; and daughter, Christi. She is survived by daughter, Nan (Mike) Ingham; brother, Roy Jones of Independence; grandchildren, Jonathan (Kris) Zerr, Amby Zerr and Ethan (Leigh Ann) Zerr. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Jillian Zerr, and her “special daughter” Debbie (Jim) Ingham.

A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the chapel. Burial will be held privately at Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blue Springs Assembly of God and/or Special Neighbors.
