RALPH FRANKLIN WINN, age 71, of Overland Park, KS passed away peacefully on Monday evening, Sept 9 2024 at Hospice House in Olathe Kansas.
Ralph was born March 10, 1953 in Smithville Missouri, the youngest son of the late BF Winn & Nina Elizabeth Sunderland Winn.
He is survived by his older sister and brother Gloria Winn Rohde and Robert Winn; nephew Michael Smith; son and daughter Brandon Winn and Courtney Winn Belz (Jason Belz) and grandchildren Brooks and Hensley. He attended high school at East Buchanan High in Gower Missouri. He was active in football, basketball, and band throughout his high school years. He graduated valedictorian in 1971. After graduation he went on to pharmacy school at the University of Missouri Columbia where he obtained his degree in pharmacy. He had a long career as a pharmacist in multiple KC area hospitals.
He married Mary Ellen Martin on September 3rd, 1976 with whom he had his 2 children. He enjoyed watching his children play sports and participated in coaching for many years. He was an avid Chiefs fan with season tickets for 20 years. He continued supporting and enjoyed watching the Chiefs in addition to cheering on his alma mater, Missouri Tigers. He often planned family vacations, enjoying hiking, rafting and spending time outdoors in Colorado and the Yellowstone area.
After retirement, Ralph delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, from caring for them in infancy to baking cookies for them. He enjoyed making them smile. He was often experimenting with new spicy and adventurous recipes with a love of cooking. Ralph leaves behind fond memories for his family to cherish.
A celebration of life is planned for March 10, 2025 in the Kansas City area with details to come in the future.
