ROBERT A PENDERGRAPH
1936-2013

DURHAM - Mr. Robert A. Pendergraph, 77, died early Wednesday at his home. Mr. Pendergraph was born in Durham Co., the son of the late Henry Irving Pendergraph and the late Alma Stephens Pendergraph.

Bobby was a graduate of the Class of 1954 at Durham High School and a graduate of the Class of 1959 at the University of North Carolina. He was President of Pendergraph Electric, Inc., and was a member of the Durham Electrical Contractors Association (DECA), serving many years as secretary-treasurer. He was past President of Carolinas Electrical Contractors Association (CECA) and was awarded lifetime membership to CECA in 2010, of which he was very proud. Bobby loved speaking before the Durham and Carolina’s Electrical Contractors and ended every speech with “and may the good Lord take a liking to you!”. Bobby was a former member and past President of North State Sertoma, former member of Durham Sports Club, and was a current member of Willowhaven @ Umstead Pines Country Club. He was also a former member of the Durham Organization of Golfing Seniors “D.O.G.S.”.

Bobby loved life, loved his family and loved the Lord. He was grateful for every day and lived life to the fullest. Time with friends was one of his favorite things, whether on the golf course or at the beach, he treasured every moment. Mr. Pendergraph was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Outbackers Sunday School Class.

Mr. Pendergraph is survived by his wife, Betsy T. Pendergraph; daughter, Lisa Pendergraph and partner, Marie Padley; son, Steve Pendergraph and wife, Mary Kay; and two grandchildren, Michael Dean Pendergraph and Melissa J. Pendergraph.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, 3 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Pastor W. Douglas Lain Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.
