ORVILLE CASPER GUNDERSON
1933-2024

Orville C. Gunderson was born Dec 4 1933, the son of Casper and Laura (Dvergsten) Gunderson in Traill, ND. Because of his strong faith in Jesus Christ, he entered his eternal home with his Lord on June 30 2024, at Essentia Hospital, with Donna and his family by his side.

He attended schools in Hillsboro, Buxton, and Beltrami. Orville farmed until he entered the Army in July of 1955 through July of 1957. He received his GED while in the service. After completion of his military service, he returned to Minnesota to continue grain farming and also sold insurance. After many years of farming, he rented out his land, did custom combining and continued to sell insurance. Orville was a member of the Viking Band. He was a member of Fargo Baptist Church. Orville loved spending time with family, including many trips throughout the United States during his kids' childhood. Orville was also a member of the Sons of Norway. He loved meeting the Norwegian relatives on the 3 trips to Norway that he and Donna took. Orville and Donna also traveled to Hawaii twice. Orville loved the ocean and spent 2 weeks a year at Myrtle Beach SC. For over 15 years he and Donna spent 2 winter months every year in Mission TX, where he loved making music in local jam sessions.

On February 14 1958 Orville married Leann Littlefield of Cyrill Oklahoma, to which his four children were born. That marriage ended in divorce in 1993. On December 29 2003 he was united in marriage to Donna Plante, they lived together in his house in Hendrum, MN.

He is survived by his wife Donna; his ex-wife Leann; two daughters, Kimberly (Marvin) Faul, Horace ND and Velvet (Gary) Sunderland, Durham NC; his son, Gregg, Fargo ND; two step-daughters, Lisa (Rick) Hall, Pembina ND and Jodi (Tobey) Soderberg, Buxton ND; nine grandchildren, Matthew (Madeline), Jesse (Hope) and Trevor Faul; Serena, Connor, Taryn (Allen) Clark, Morgan (Garrett) Ford and Quinn Sunderland; and Noah Gunderson; six great-grandsons, seven great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Brian; two sisters, Adeline (Gunderson) Nordheim and Marjorie Gunderson; two brothers, Lawrence and Donald; daughter-in-law, Mary Gunderson; and grandson Luke Gunderson.

Services will be held at Fargo Baptist Church Fargo, ND on July 8 2024, at 2:00pm, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery rural Cummings ND.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo ND.
