Durham: Nathan Leonard Harrison of Durham died Saturday night from injuries sustained in a single car, single passenger automobile accident. Nate was born June 16th, 1990 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill to Elizabeth “Lisa” Wilson Harrison and William M. “Bo” Harrison, III. He was a 2008 graduate of Riverside High School, and earned a B.A. in Peace, War & Defense from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2013. While a student at UNC, Nate volunteered as a defensive coaching intern with the university’s football team, and also served on the editorial staff of the Daily Tar Heel. He was employed by Netsertive in Morrisville as an internet advertising sales trainee.
From a young age, Nate was mechanically inclined, fascinated by all manner of machines and electronics, and was also a voracious reader. He developed a keen interest in history, sports, music, politics, and current events, loved the Tar Heels, and enjoyed sharing his opinions about all these things. Nate’s mischievous sense of humor was always balanced by a genuine concern for others. He will be most remembered for his extraordinary passion for life, and his fierce loyalty to family and friends. Nate had a deep and unshakeable faith in God’s love for him, and will be sorely missed by those whose lives he touched.
In addition to his parents, Nate leaves a sister, Clara Morgan Harrison and two brothers, Benjamin Ludwig Harrison and Isaac Bass Harrison; maternal grandparents, Anna and Steve Wilson, and paternal grandparents Mary and William M. Harrison, Jr., all of Durham.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday at Blacknall Memorial Presbyterian Church, followed by burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit 6-9 PM Friday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. Gifts in Nate’s memory may be made to: Reality Ministries, 916 Lamond Ave. Durham 27701, realityministriesinc.org.
