Mary Beth (Muhonen) Gunderson, 59, of Fargo, ND, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, in Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, after a lengthy battle with ongoing medical issues.
Mary was born September 23, 1963, in Crookston, MN, the daughter of Wallace and Elizabeth (Grosfield) Muhonen, of Shelly, MN. She was raised in Shelly and graduated from Climax Public High School in 1982. During high school Mary loved the sport of volleyball and played on the high school team. She also enjoyed music and singing with her sister, Elise, accompanying her on the piano for recitals and competitions. She was also an active member of Shelly Lutheran Church.
After graduating high school, Mary moved to Moorhead, MN, where she attended Moorhead Technical College where she took classes to become a legal secretary. On March 24, 1984, she was united in marriage to Gregg Gunderson of Hendrum, MN. To this union they were blessed with two sons, Luke Timothy born September 12, 1984 and Noah Timothy born October 5, 1986. They have also been blessed with six grandchildren, Luke's children, Levi and Elise and Noah's children, Jordon, Hayden, Peyton and Rowan.
For several years, Mary worked for Warner and Company and Red River Human Services. In 1987, she and Gregg started a family business, Gunderson Steam Clean. She later opened a successful medical courier business which she operated for seventeen years. Mary and Gregg combined the businesses to form GG and MG Services, INC.
Mary loved to watch her sons in their sports activities, Luke - basketball and football, and Noah - hockey. She also enjoyed nature, camping, fishing, gardening, canning, crafts and spending time with her beloved family.
Mary put her faith and trust in Jesus Christ, thus we know with assurance she is in Heaven.
She is survived by her husband, Gregg; son, Noah, Fargo; six grandchildren; mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Muhonen, Fargo; brothers, Andy Muhonen, Fargo, Mark (Renee) Muhonen, Fargo, Billy (Mary Ann) Muhonen, Grand Forks, ND, and Kevin (Jennifer) Muhonen, Fargo; brother-in-law, Tom Huseby; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace; son, Luke on January 8, 2022; and sister, Elise "Lisa" (Muhonen) Huseby, and brother-in-law, Brian Gunderson.
A Funeral Service for Mary will be at 12:00 PM, Monday, June 12, 2023, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
The burial will take place in Highland Cemetery, rural Cummings, ND.
