MARTHA BOBBIT DICKERSON
1945-2014

DURHAM: Martha Bobbitt Dickerson, 69, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Carillon Assisted Living. She was born in Durham Co, daughter of the late William Talmadge Bobbitt and the late Pansy Blalock Bobbitt. Martha graduated from Durham High in 1962 and was presented at the Debutante Ball. She graduated in 1965 from Rex Nursing School and was employed in the Operating Room at Watts Hospital. Mrs. Dickerson later worked for Dr. Kenneth Podger in Ob-Gyn, retiring from the VA Medical Center after 28 years of service in the Operating Room. Mrs. Dickerson is a member of The Summit Church. She always greeted everyone with a million dollar smile.

Mrs. Dickerson is survived by her husband, George Melvin “Mel” Dickerson; sons, William Brett Dickerson and wife, Kathy of Angier, Matthew Derek Dickerson and wife, Jenny of Durham; grandchildren, Tanner Dickerson, Micah Dickerson, Jordan Pitaro, Scott Pitaro, Elijah Dickerson, Mandy Davis, Caleb Dickerson and 3 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham with Chaplain Phil Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Clements Funeral Home.
