JUDGE DAVID BARNES, Age 67, of Birmingham AL, passed away Fri., Mar. 25th, 2011.

He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Collegeville. He previously served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a graduate of A.H. Parker High School Class of 1962, Miles College and Texas Southern University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, former state legislator, former Dean of Miles College School of Law, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and served as a Municipal Judge for the City of Birmingham.

Survivors are his daughter, Greta Fowler (Bradford); sons, David Kenyatta (Patrice) and Delwin Barnes (Chanequa); sisters, Rochelle Daniels and Ava Averhart (Michael); brothers, Willie "Sonnie" (Daisy) and Anthony Barnes; and grandchildren, Kenya, Theodore, and Micah.

Funeral service will be held on Wed., Mar. 30th at 11:00 AM at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church, 1101 Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. SW. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be held Tues. from 1-6 PM. The family will receive visitors from 4-6PM, Omega service from 6-6:30PM. Arrington Funeral Home, Inc. directing.

ERMA J. EVANS BARNES, Age 67, of Birmingham AL, passed away Mon., Mar. 14th, 2011.

She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Collegeville. Mrs. Barnes was a graduate of A.H. Parker High School, Class of 1962 and Miles College. She received her master's degree from Texas Southern University. Mrs. Barnes taught many years in the Birmingham School System and at Miles College.

She is survived by her husband, Judge David Barnes; daughter, Greta (Bradford) Fowler; sons, Delwin (Chanequa) and Kenyatta (Patrice) Barnes; sister, Wendolyn Evans; brothers, Alfred, Jr. (Virginia) and Otis (Jeanette) Evans; and grandchildren, Kenya, Theodore and Micah.

Funeral service will be held on Sat., Mar. 19th at 2:00 PM at the church, 3351 30th Place North. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be Fri. from 1-7 PM. Arrington Funeral Home, Inc. directing.
