In Memoriam

George Corpening Love Jr. died unexpectedly at his Chapel Hill home on January 29, 2008. Born September 10, 1929, to George Corpening Love and Mary Wise Dula Love in Durham, George was a happy and generous man who loved the outdoors and was a friend to many people.

He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Trish Stanford Love; and four stepsons and their families all of Chapel Hill. He is also survived by three children from a previous marriage and their children; two sisters; and a nephew.

George graduated with the class of "48" at Durham High School, where he later enjoyed serving as class president. At his death, he was working as the Chairman for its upcoming reunion. He also attended NCSU and belonged to the N.C. Society of Surveyors, the N.C. Society of Engineers, the Durham Engineers' Club, and Grace Baptist Church.

George was a professional land surveyor in Durham for 37 years until his retirement. He enjoyed golf (especially his hole-in-one on May 23, 2001), as well as hunting, fishing, bridge, music, and traveling with Trish.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at University Presbyterian Church, 209 Franklin Street, Chapel Hill. Visitation afterwards in the church lounge. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
