In Memoriam
CAROL JEAN GREEAR
1948-2022

Carol Jean Dunbar Greear, 73, of Youngsville passed away on Monday morning, April 11, 2022 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. She was born in Charleston West Virginia on May 31, 1948 to Arnett and Betty Dunbar and grew up near Beckley, West Virginia. She attended West Virginia Tech University, ultimately attaining a Master's degree in biology from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.

For 34 years, she served as professor of biology at Piedmont Bible College (now Carolina University), in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She also served as a Bible teacher and mentor to many. Many current pastors and missionaries point to Carol as one of the primary reasons they chose ministry. She served in the crisis pregnancy center and for years led the senior adult ladies at the Salem Baptist Church, where she was a member for more than 40 years.

In 1970 she married her college sweetheart, J Lynn Greear, to whom she was married 52 years. She is survived by him, her sister Frances and brother Bill, and her two adoring children, J.D. and Christy, and seven grandchildren: Kharis, Allie, Ryah, Adon (Greear) and the triplets, Thomas Edward, William, and Alexander (Rice). She always said that her kids and grandkids were her greatest legacy, quoting 3 John 4, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." Carol exemplified the Apostle Peter's words in 1 Peter 3:4, "Let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious."

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 Friday morning, April 15, 2022 at the Summit Church 3901 Capital Hills Drive Raleigh, NC 27616. The burial will be in the Powhatan Community Cemetery in Powhatan, VA.

A service of Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Wake Forest, NC.
