In Memoriam CLEO FLORENCE ASHWORTH BARRETT
1919-2017
Cleo Ashworth Barrett, 97, died Wednesday March 8, 2017. She was born was born on May 18, 1919 in Pittsylvania County to the late Green and Ida Powell Ashworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse William Barrett; two brothers and nine sisters.
Mrs. Barrett was a member of Roxboro Presbyterian Church where she was in the choir. She was an Air Force wife through the Korean and Cold Wars and also co-owner and business manager of Barrett Automotive. Mrs. Barrett was in the Glee Club in Schoolfield School and was Valedictorian for the class of 1937 then attended Averett College.
Surviving are two children, Elizabeth "Betsy" Wiggins, of Durham and James "Jim" Barrett, of Durham; and dozens of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Brooks and White Chapel with the Rev. Evan Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Person Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
